+Thanks to all of you who have had your directory photos taken or will later today. A church directory serves a multitude of purposes: it helps us answer those nagging questions, "What was her name again? Does it start with an 'A', a 'B'...?" It updates the parish family: we're all five years older than when we did the last directory (don't you love that the directory company can touch up our photos?) Some of the children weren't even born yet in 2012! An updated directory is a great thing to give new or prospective members so they can identify who they see in church on Sunday. So, well done, body of Christ. You're looking great!
+The Virginia Synod Assembly is coming up June 9-11 at Roanoke College. Thank you to Marty Holliday, Diane Giessler and Billy Motley for representing our parish there.
+As many of you know, Tom King of Zion moved to Florida a few months ago. One of Tom's ministries here was taking communion to shut-ins and people in the hospital. With Tom's absence, we are looking for a new person or persons to take over that ministry. If you are interested, let me know. You will receive some instruction and a home communion set. We only have 2 or 3 people right now who need this service; you and the member can decide how often you would visit. It's a meaningful way to keep homebound and ill members and friends connected to the parish.
"If there is anywhere on earth a lover of God who is always kept safe, I know nothing of it, for it was not shown to me. But this was shown: that in falling and rising again we are always kept in that same precious love." - Julian of Norwich
