Did you know that your gifts to Lutheran Disaster Response, designated for "Hurricane Response," will be used entirely (100%) for Hurricane Harvey disaster relief until the response is complete? Here is how you can give: go tohttp://www.elca.org/en/Our-Work/Relief-and-Development/Lutheran-Disaster-Response/Our-Impact/US-Hurricane-Relief and follow the easy prompts to give using a credit card or use the bulletin insert this coming Sunday to mail in your gift. I just gave online and it's quite easy. In these days and weeks to come, we keep the people affected by the hurricane in our prayers, praying for solace for those who have lost loved ones and hope for those who have lost businesses and homes.
(Beth and Jim Dabney split their time between Floyd and Houston and worship at St. Mark when they are here. Beth is in Virginia and Jim is in Houston, to begin a new school year at Rice University, where he teaches. Jim reports that their home is undamaged, for which we give thanks.)
Please keep the family of Pat Burton in your prayers as they mourn her loss. The funeral for Pat was this afternoon at Zion. Thank you to Diane Giessler for organizing the luncheon following the service and to all who brought food, served and cleaned up!
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God – what is good and acceptable and perfect. - Romans 12:2
