Jesus was teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. When he spoke to the crowd about eating his body and drinking his blood, they grew leery of him, wondering what this unknown preacher was asking of them. After most of the crowd walked away, Jesus asked his disciples, "Do you also wish to go away?" "Lord, to whom can we go?" Peter asked, "You have the words of eternal life." We who follow Christ owe our lives to the God who is faithful to us whatever life brings our way, no matter how faithful we may be at any given time. Isn't that the good news our hearts yearn for? If you didn't catch it last weekend, you have another chance - two chances, in fact. "Back To BAD-TV" will be presented by the Zion Players at the Oak Grove Pavilion this Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm. Audiences last week loved "Cows from Outer Space," "The Floyd Opera Company," and "Saving Sunnydale." The costumes! The music! The dancing! Truly unique. Come out and enjoy the performance, drop some money in the buckets and help the six non-profit organizations Oak Grove is supporting this summer. Thank you to our writer and director, Vickie Sowers, for putting her heart, soul and amazing imagination into this play!
We keep in our prayers:
*B.J. Bauermeister, recovering from back surgery.
*Phil Fullbright, recovering from eye surgery.
*Dan Snellings, moving to Forest, Virginia following his retirement from Floyd County Schools.
Next week, Billy and I will be at my mother's home to be with her for her next chemotherapy. We will be away August 31 - September 7. If you or someone you know needs pastoral care during that time, please contact Bill Gardner at 789-7946 or email@example.com and he will put you in touch with a pastor.
"The Lord your God is a merciful God, he will neither abandon you nor destroy you." - Deuteronomy 4:31
