This evening, we have the second of our mid-week Advent services at the Presbyterian Church of Floyd, beginning at 5:30 pm. We'll share soup and sandwiches, then worship with Holden Evening Prayer. All you have to do is show up and receive warm food for your body and soul on this cold, cold day!
Dick Geissler had neck and spine surgery on Monday and is doing well. He should be home from the hospital today. We pray for an uncomplicated, successful recovery for him. Also, we pray for Phil Fullbright as he recovers from a recent illness. Tom King is returning home on Sunday after helping his daughter, Jan, following her shoulder surgery. We pray for Jan as she recuperates.
Thank you to everyone who made the Women of Zion's Christmas tree bag project a big success this week. Thanks to your generosity, we filled 22 bags with cookies, hot cocoa, fruit, ornaments, and other goodies to trim trees donated to Plenty! and delivered to families in our community. Thanks to everyone who baked, shopped and joined the bag-filling frenzy on Monday, especially the male helpers who were drafted! "The Advent mystery is the beginning of the end of all in us that is not yet Christ." Thomas Merton
