Today's post is shorter than usual because I have been away all day at a conference pastors' meeting in Pulaski and want to get this out quickly.
This evening at 5:30 we gather at Zion for our second Advent meal, followed by Holden Evening Prayer. If you have never attended one of these events, I encourage you to come tonight or on December 14 and 21. It's great to eat a meal with our Presbyterian friends and to be guided by worship into the mystery and wonder of the Christ we await.
Please keep in your prayers: Debbie DeJesus, who will have surgery at Duke on Friday; Shirley Vangilder, who is recovering from surgery and the Carter family of Willis, who experienced an extensive house fire.
Thank you to all who cut trees, wrangled them into stands and into the churches, to those who decorated our sanctuaries and Chrismon trees so our Advent worship might be enriched and to those who participated in last Sunday's Hanging of the Greens. Both sanctuaries are beautiful!
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
