A few years ago, I stopped making New Year's resolutions. I never was very good at keeping them anyway, and many years I forgot I had made them at all. Maybe you are better at these kind of promises than I am - I hope so. I pray that 2018 is filled with joy for you, for those you love and for our parish. Knowing there will be times of pain and hardship for some of us, I also pray that we will support and care for one another and for our neighbors in this beautiful place we call home.
For your calendars: Lent begins relatively early this year, with Ash Wednesday on February 14. Easter will be on April 1. (No fooling.)
