“They are wet with the rain of the mountains and cling to the rock for lack of shelter.” Job 28:4
Everywhere I’ve gone today, I’ve heard stories: flooded basements (us, too), washed-out bridges, cars lost to the river, mudslides, closed and impassable roads. “I’ve never seen anything like it,” seems the common refrain. The rainfall totals are unbelievably high. And there is more to come. What is a wonder to some is a catastrophe to others. Our community and our parish are filled with compassionate people so I know neighbors are already coming to the aid of one another. I hope we as a parish can work together as a network of care and share our neighbor’s needs. Please call on one another if you need help. Let me know of someone in need and I’ll disperse that information by email. Let’s do whatever we can to get through these next days. God is with us in this storm and God is the rock to whom we cling.
St. Mark will worship with Willis Methodist Church this coming Sunday, October 4, for World Communion Sunday. The Methodists begin worship at 11:00, but will wait, I hope, for some of us to get there a bit later.
God is our refuge and strength,
a very present* help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
3 though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult. - from Psalm 46
In Christ,Pastor Linda
